GATEways sound events can best be described as "Global Ambient" in different media and on different stages. Contributions of a great variety of sound artists on different places come together via data lines, are mixed by other artists and machines in many various ways and sent back on line, on air and on the different on site venues.

Projects like GATEways can never be experienced in whole - neither by the public nor by the contributing artists themselves. The different media and venues just allow the perceiption of tiny bits of the overall concept. They are like pieces of a very special jigsaw puzzle which allows everyone to put them together in different ways to get different results on the same image.

As these projects cannot be perceived in whole they too cannot be documented in whole. So instead of a final mix we present you short cuts of the 30 hour event. Sounds, as they appeared on Vienna's Siebenbrunnenplatz as well as excerpts of the incoming audio streams, sometimes intermingling, sometimes running parallel. And to keep with the richness and variety of the sound events we put them on line more or less randomly. You can either choose to listen to the complete playlist or to zap between the smaller parts which might interest you.
