The Austrian photographer`s group Ad Oculos and members of the french photographer´s association
La Fontaine Obscure made together a community exhibition under the title:
"AQUAPLANING"
in the Gallery DZYGA, in L´viv, Ukraine.
It took part from the 16.8. 2005 until the31.8. 2005
Ten Austrian and five French Artists presented their photographic and artistic perceptions
of the theme water.
"AQUAPLANING" - The expression itself describes gliding on the water and our exhibition shows different associations about the great variety of the mystic element of water.
Gentle, soft, cold and refreshing,
tingling, deceptive, treacherous and full of secrets,
uncontrolled, falling, destroying or suddenly tickling away
water is almost undescribeable.
The symbolic and allegoric meaning of water is present as well in various mythologies as in rituals of all cultures.
The human being itself consists in his main part out of water.
And we all , the whole mankind, animals and plants are in a continuos dependence and touch with water, which is falling down from the air, coming out from the earth or flowing in rivers downstream to the almost borderless sea.
In Visual Arts water is an often used symbol of unconsciousness or of forgetting things of the past..
Eating, drinking, washing, winning of electric energy, irrigating, watersports and fun anyway..water gives life.
But on the other hand often unforeseenly the same water brings setting, destruction and death.
