ARTISTS' USE OF TELECOMMUNICATIONS CONFERENCE
February 16, 1980 - Museum des 20. Jahrhunderts, Vienna. |
TRANSLATED FROM THE VIENNA ANNOUNCEMENT:
"In the program of the exhibition "Video Made In Austria" (Museum des 20. Jahrhunderts), a station will be installed to make participation in a world-wide computer conference possible."
"The conference will take place on Saturday 16. February at 19:00 (San Francisco 10:00, Tokyo 03:00)."
"A computer terminal for access to the time-sharing system of I.P.Sharp Associates and equipment for LIVE Video (slow scan) will be installed in Vienna for communication with Tokyo, Vancouver, Hawaii, New York, Boston etc."
The idea of the organisors is to create a "Telecommunication Space" in which all the participating stations are simultaneously present and able to communicate with each other.
"During the conference data will be exchanged about the use of telecommunications technology (tv, satellites, computers, video, audio and other electronic systems) in contemporary art."
"Vienna, as the only station in Europe, must present the problems confronting European artists working with the new communication technology." |
