On the 21st of March, the day of anti-racism, and the equinox. in the towns of Erfurt, and its neighbor Weimar, there will be a number of works realised within the position of the GATEways concept. A number of artists, who work in the realms of Radio, public space, and internet, have come together to put their work to practice.

The free, independant local radio, "Radio F.R.E.I" will act as a node in Erfurt. The Limona, an old factory building in Weimer, that has 6 stories with technical resources from the Bauhaus-University will serve as the place for the event.

Radio F.R.E.I. is a collective initiative, and is in this sense a process for all Radio participants: For the concept GATEways from "Alien Productions", there was already a suitable basis of understanding.

On the 21st of March, F.R.E.I. will broadcast from 6:00 - 14:00 and from 20:00 till 24:00 on 96,2 MHz UKW and on 90,45 MHz Cable. Over the internet, it should be broadcasted, unintereupted, the entire day and night. This transmission via internet will be reachable from the site of F.R.E.I. - www.radiofrei.de. The sun comes up at 6:15 on the 21st. Herewith, the soundinstallation "einStimmen" from Johannes Sienknecht will be opened, that will be manifested in the Limona as an 8 channel Space-sound-installation, and as a mono-MPEG-stream in the internet. F.R.E.I. will transmit the sound from the installation on Radio from sun-up until (most likely) 7:30.

The public Space in Erfurt will be activated by the artists, Sharifa Malik and Nzingha Guy St. Louis, who are also acting as the association "Adefra." Adefra (ethiopian - a woman who shows courage) understands itself as a center for transcultural exchange. Connected to Adefra is "EGO" - a youth organization, that is in tight contact with Adefra. Artists from both organizations will act together in the public book shops of Erfurt - the sound material from these actions (Jazz poetry, HipHop, Diskussionen) will be transmitted in the Studio of F.R.E.I., and from there in the Ether, and carried over to the internet server.

The russian poet and musician, Dimitri Dragilew, will mix literature and songs from various languages in relationship to this occasion. The portuguese musician and artist Augusto Sanchez, the Radio activists and artists Jörg Volbeding, Hagen Kleemann, Juliane Rocca and Beate Ziers will mix in different ways and aspect of Time, Migration, and Racism.

The project in Erfurt and Weimar is open - new names could come to the project at any time. The intentions of the participants will shape out and change up until the 21st; information about this, about the running of the event, can be found on the W3 site RadioF.R.E.I..

In Erfurt und im benachbarten Weimar werden am 21.03, dem globalen Tag des Antirassismus, und dem der Tag und Nachtgleiche, verschiedene Arbeiten realisiert, die sich im Konzept GATEways positionieren. Es haben sich bis heute zahlreiche KünstlerInnen zusammengefunden, die im Radio, im öffentlichen Raum, und im Internet ihre Arbeiten umsetzen werden.

Als Knotenpunkte fungieren dabei das freie, selbstverwaltete Lokalradio "Radio F.R.E.I" in Erfurt, und die Limona, ein altes Fabrikgebäude in Weimar, deren 6.OG zusammen mit technischen Ressourcen von der Bauhaus-Universität als Veranstaltungsort zur Verfügung gestellt wurde. Radio F.R.E.I. wird kollektiv verwaltet und gestaltet, und ist in diesem Sinne ein Prozess aller am Radio Beteiligten. Für das Konzept GATEways von "AlienProductions" war aus diesem Grunde eine geeignete Handlungsebene bereits vorhanden.

Am 21.03 wird F.R.E.I. auf 96.2 MHz UKW, und auf 90.45 MHz Kabel von 06:00-14:00 Uhr und von 20:00 bis 24:00 Uhr senden. Über das Internet soll, von einem Server in Weimar aus, ununterbrochen den ganzen Tag und die ganze Nacht gesendet werden. Diese Übertragungen via Internet werden auf der Seite von F.R.E.I. - www.radiofrei.de - zu erreichen sein. Die Sonne geht in Weimar am 21.03.00 um 6:15 Uhr auf. Hiermit wird die Klanginstallation "einStimmen" von Johannes Sienknecht eröffnet, die sich über den Tag als achtkanalige Raumklanginstallation in der Limona, und als Mono-MPEG-Stream im Internet manifestiert. F.R.E.I. wird den Klang der Installation von Sonnenaufgang bis voraussichtlich 7:30 Uhr im Radio übertragen.

Der öffentliche Raum in Erfurt wird vor allem von den Künstlerinnen Sharifa Malik und Nzingha Guy St. Louis aktiviert werden, die in ihrer Arbeit auch im Verein "Adefra" tätig sind. Adefra (äthiopisch - eine Frau die Mut zeigt) versteht sich als ein Zentrum für transkulturellen Austausch. An Adefra angeschlossen ist "EGO" - eine Jugendorganisation, die im engen Kontakt zu Adefra steht. KünstlerInnen beider Organisationen werden zusammen in einer öffentlichen Bücherei Erfurts agieren - das Klangmaterial dieser Aktionen (Jazzpoetry, HipHop, Diskussionen) wird in das Studio von F.R.E.I. gesendet, und von dort in den Äther, und zum Internetserver übertragen werden.

Der russische Dichter und Musiker Dimitri Dragilew wird live im Radiostudio mehrsprachige Literatur und Lieder in Beziehung zum Anlass setzen. Der potugisische Musiker und Künstler Augusto Sanchez, die RadioaktivistInnen und KünstlerInnen Jörg Volbeding, Hagen Kleemann, Juliane Rocca und Beate Ziers werden in verschiedener Art undWeise Aspekte um Zeit, Migration, und Rassismus verarbeiten.

Das Projekt in Erfurt und Weimar ist offen - es können jederzeit neue Namen dazukommen. Die Vorhaben der Beteiligten werden sich bis zum 21.03 und darüber hinaus verändern und ausformen; hierüber, über den Lauf der Dinge, wird die W3-Seite von RadioF.R.E.I. informieren.
